ROJ Mechatronics, committed to the development and dissemination of precision agriculture, has created the DMD line of motors.
The abbreviation DMD is the acronym for Demeter Motor Drive and indicates the actuator of an electronic system in an agricultural environment.
The term derives from the union of the words "Demeter", the Greek goddess of agriculture, and "Motor Drive", in fact, the motor drive is integrated into the gearbox (on the brushless motor is a reducer mounted in order to increase the output torque).
In a nutshell, therefore, a DMD is a component that receives commands directly from the ECU installed on the tractor and converts them into movement.
ROJ Agri-Motion currently offers two series of Demeter Motor Drives on the market: the DMD-0 and DMD-2 motors.
The DMD-O motor is a component consisting of a “brushless” motor, with an integrated orthogonal gearbox and electronic drive.
The DMD-2 motor is a component consisting of a “brushless” motor, with an integrated planetary gearbox and electronic drive.
In both cases, the motor drive can be used to replace the mechanical or hydraulic transmission in agricultural applications (e.g. variable rate applications).
Some examples of possible applications are:

In 2017, ROJ launched the DMD-2 motor, a unit optimised in terms of performance and cost for driving seed metering units on high row-count seed drills. Increasing the number of seeding rows and also the distance of the utilities from the battery, the 12V power supply has some limitations. Therefore, ROJ decided to develop a new motor that uses the 48V power supply that can be found in the latest generation of tractors.
Specifically, the DMD-2 48V is a brushless motor with an electronically controlled planetary gearbox, designed for 48V agricultural equipment, with an application focus on seed drills with a high number of rows.
Here are the main advantages compared to 12V:
